The cutting edge database means DriverMender is the leading software for locating and fixing driver problems occuring with almost any hardware. A wide range of highly useful secondary features are available, including the ability to create backup driver profiles, run pre-upgrade hardware assessments and support
that is built into the software interface itself means help can be reached extremely quickly if needed.
DriverMender was designed from the ground up to be not only a tool suitable for computer experts and technically savvy users to quickly install drivers across several machines, but also as a method for novice users to acquire drivers to fix their broken hardware with minimal technical knowledge.
The approach taken by DriverMender to achieve this is using an interface which sends users through the scan process with minimal input needed and 'I don't know' selectable answers to trigger
smart detection software which automatically finds the information needed. Once the scan has been completed it is possible to simply install the drivers, or if the user wishes to delve deeper, to view detailed information about the devices that were found to have missing, broken and working drivers and more much useful technical information. This is why DriverMender is a powerful tool not only for novice users but technically savvy users as well.
Download and install the DriverMender driver scan software
After installing, launch the program and the welcome screen will appear. Click on the large ‘scan’ button to initiate a scan for missing drivers.
DriverMender will alert you when the scan has finished. From here you can choose to install and repair any missing drivers identified. After this step all of your devices will have 100% functioning drivers installed!

Drivers
What exactly are drivers? The term is used all the time when computer hardware fails to function correctly or doesn't function at all and typically refers to a piece of software allowing the computer itself to interact with a hardware device. So if your printer isn't working there's a pretty good chance either the drivers aren't up to date, are missing completely or the printer hardware itself is malfunctioning.
Drivers are necessary on a software level so that application programmers can easily access the functions of a particular piece of hardware without having to write low level code to directly instruct the hardware device. In order to write a device driver an in depth knowledge of the hardware itself is necessary. Drivers have high system privileges and must be written carefully as unstable driver software can cause system crashes and damage to the hardware. For this reason typically hardware drivers are created by engineers who work for the same company that developed the hardware itself as they have access to the development hardware and most current technical information. This is not always the case however and some companies exist that just write optimized drivers for hardware devices even if they don't work at the place the hardware has been manufactured.
Often a device driver will stay relatively true to the original version for devices such as keyboards and printers, however performance driven hardware such as graphics cards (often called video cards) which are used for computer gaming are constantly having drivers rewritten to squeeze every drop of performance out of them using the latest software development techniques. In this case, drivers will need updating more regularly to get the most out of the hardware whereas non performance based hardware will only be badly in need of a driver update if the computer hardware has changed or the device has stopped functioning completely.
Why Install The Latest Drivers?
Drivers allow your hardware devices and your computer to communicate with each other. The manufacturer of the printer, digital camera or whatever device you are using will have designed specific drivers that allow the hardware to run at it's peak efficiency. New and improved drivers are often being released by the manufacturer and this is the reason why it's almost always best to have the latest drivers installed.
The case for having the latest drivers is particularly strong relating to high performance devices such as graphics cards and older hardware that may not be functioning correctly with a computer upgrade. Where high performance hardware is concerned typically the product manufacturer is constantly releasing driver updates to squeeze every last drop of performance out of the device. This is of course essential for gamers as video games become more and more demanding as time goes by.
With older hardware, perhaps an old printer or LCD monitor, you may find that after a general computer upgrade the device no longer works or does not work as expected even after significant attempts to configure it. In these cases often installing the right drivers will enable the devices to function correctly again.
Will Installing Drivers Always Fix The Problem?
Not always! A portion of the time your hardware problems may simply be down to the fact that the hardware itself is broken. Unfortunately it's not always easy to tell if this is a case, if possible you should try the hardware in a different computer first and if it does not work there, then there is a good chance the device itself is broken and no driver update will fix it.
If you choose to use a recommended driver installer like ours, you'll be able to see the results of the driver scan once it has completed and if the hardware at fault is not listed then updating your drivers will not fix the problem.
How A Driver Scan Works
Driver Scan technology is a popular way to install drivers with minimal effort and hassle. Driver scan tools usually make use of a massive database, in the case of DriverMender it's over one million drivers, and scan the target computer for missing drivers. Once the computer and its hardware have been analyzed, the driver scan software will either retrieve the drivers from the database installed with the software or download the drivers as needed from a central store.
There is some risk in downloading and installing drivers manually, particularly for novice and non technical users as they can easily install the wrong drivers which can damage the hardware itself. Most driver scan software has secondary features including backup and migration technology as well.
